A group of political leaders in Rukungiri district has highlighted the key milestones two years since they were elected.
During the 2021 election campaigns, leaders pledged to solve most of the challenges like poor road networks, lack of electricity, and water shrtage, among others.
In May this year, Members of Parliament and other local leaders are registering two years since they started their 5-year term of office.
Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district Chairperson says that in a period of 2 years, the district, they have improved the road network and soon the district is getting an industrial park in Bwambara sub-county in addition to lobbying for Kabale University brunch in the district which will be hosted at former Rukungiri Teachers Collage in Nyakeina Buyanja Town council.
Kyomukama added that in 2 years, the district has also supported farmers with irrigation schemes in Garuka Bwambara Sub County among many other achievements.
Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahirwa the Rukungiri Municipality MP says in 2 years, Rukungiri municipality has got street lights,
a good road network, and clean water, among other achievements.
They attributed the slow development to the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war and Covid-19 effects which is affecting service delivery.
