Residents and well-wishers of Southern ward in Kebisoni town council under their WhatsApp group have raised more than eleven million shillings to rehabilitate a 4km road connecting two cells.
The two cells are Mutojo and Kakibaya A, both in the southern ward of Kebison town council Rukungiri district, whose residents especially those living in Kampala led by the Group administrator Mrs. Mai Kashagire, contributed UGX 11,500,000 towards fuel to facilitate the grader for the upgrading of their local road.
While flagging off the rehabilitation yesterday, the minister of health in Rukungiri district council who also doubles as the Nyarushanje Lc5 councilor Mathius Rwabugumi who lobbied for a grader machine lauded the residents for the contribution and love for their area.
Mathius Rwabugumi affirmed that “Burungi bwansi” is the only way to go if all the roads are to be upgraded in the Rukungiri district.
He encouraged other residents in other areas to always do the same by mobilizing themselves for the development.
He also appealed them to always do maintenance on the same road and promised them that as government, they would consider putting it in the town council work plan.
The excited residents led by Mr. Magidu commended Mrs. Mai Kashagire and Mr. Mathius Rwabugumi for the effort to see that the road is rehabilitated. They said that the deplorable state of the road had crippled their businesses.
They add that this is an indication that their agricultural produce is going to be easily transported to markets.
The Kebisoni town council Lc5 district councilor Mr. Kwebangira David asked residents to use the road profitably.
