The Rukungiri district councilors have expressed their dissatisfaction with the committee that was put in place to restock the Bwanga district stock farm which is located in Omukyiyenje Nyarushanje sub-county after realizing that up to now restocking has not been done.
They made the remarks yesterday while sitting in the district council that was held in the district council hall chaired by the district speaker Rt. Hon James Turyamuboona.
During the district council that sat in May 2023, the council directed the production office led by the district secretary for production and natural resources Mr. Micheal Byarugaba to do the restocking of the Bwanga district farm since the funds to restock it with young livestock was in place.
Hon. Albert Rwamugata the district councilor representing Buyanja sub-county, and Canon Mastiko Brian Bantu councilor representing Nyakishenyi among other councilors said in the last council they had resolved to restock the farm but they were disappointed to realize that to date nothing has been done which they said is disrespect for council resolutions.
Micheal Byarugaba defended his committee saying they have tried to look for quality livestock to restock the farm where 25 cows were to be bought but they found out that the cattle they got didn’t meet the standards.
He therefore said they are still looking for quality bulls and heifers to restock the farm together with his committee and the district procurement committee.
Councilors together with the speaker tasked the committee to do restocking before the next council which will take place in October because the delay has brought out suspicions.
