Police in Kabale is investigating a case of aggravated robbery in which one of the suspects was fatally injured and later succumbed to his wounds.

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police mouthpiece explains that on  04/08/2022 at around 01:00AM, at Makanga cell, Byamukama Innocent, Arinanye Erasmus, Asiimire Ranger and Naturinda Francis all students of Kabale Institute of Health Science who were sleeping in their hostel were attacked by three unknown men armed with pangas who robbed them of their properties which includes; Text books, documents, Mattresses among others.

The said suspects managed to escape from the scene using motor vehicle Registration Number  UAR 279F a Toyota Premio, which is also suspected to  have been stolen from the parking yard at Royal comfort bar, on 03/08/2022 by the said suspects.

According to Maate, the victims made an alarm which attracted other students, that managed to intercept the vehicle a short distance from the hostel.

One of the suspects identified as Kato Gumisiriza Shafik is said to have attempted to fight the irate students using his panga but he was overpowered and arrested but got injured by his panga and police were notified for further management.  

The other two suspects managed to escape and drove the alleged stolen motor vehicle up to Rwakaraba trading center, where they abandoned it and took off with the stolen properties.

Both reports of Aggravated robbery and   vehicle theft were registered,

The suspect identified as Kato Gumisiriza Shafik was taken to Kabale referral hospital for medication but succumbed to his wounds moments later.

Maate says the body was taken to the mortuary for postmortem, both scenes were visited by police and documented

Through investigations, the other two suspects on the run have been identified
