Local Leaders and Residents in Kisoro district are demanding President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reward Gen. Kale Kayihura, the former Inspector General of Police with a ministerial post after retirement.

This comes after President Museveni granted retirement approval to 11 General Officers and Senior Officers from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces – UPDF including Gen. Kale Kayihura. Gen Kayihura, a resident of Kanabukunga village, Gisora parish, Nyakabande sub-county in Kisoro district is among the 11 generals scheduled to retire from the army on the 31st of August 2023.

According to local leaders and residents from Kisoro district, they say that since Gen Kale Kayihura is retiring, President Museveni should reward him with a ministerial post for the dedicated services he rendered to the country as a top Police officer.

They expressed their hope in Gen Kayihura adding that to them they feel that he is worth the reward.

They further showed their expressed happiness to President Museveni upon fulfilling his presidential pledge of approving retiring Gen Kale Kayihura during the 2021 general elections while campaigning in the Kisoro district

The family members of Gen. Kale Kayihura say that during his term in office, their son was a hand working person to the extent that he never had time for his family and used to prefer his work to family and relatives.

Family Members also applauded President Museveni for having entrusted their son with big positions in his government.
