The Nyakagyeme Sub-county council in Rukungiri District chaired by Speaker Mwesigwa Obed Mayanja on Thursday passed a 78 million budget for the financial year 2023/24, which increased from 55 million for the previous year.
The sub-county LC3 Chairperson Mubangizi Godson appreciated the cooperation exhibited by his staff which enabled the sub-county to score 95 percent service delivery and urged them to maintain the spirit.
In the meeting, it was resolved to petition the district Veterinary office seeking intervention to eliminate the increased number of stray dogs in their area.
The motion of stray dogs was moved by the councilor representing Kahoko Parish Atuhaire Athanansi who revealed that stray dogs have so far killed 7 goats in her area.
The Nyakagyeme Sub County Agriculture officer Atuhairwe Hellen who resides in Rwerere Town Council noted that they suspect dogs in their area have rabies and called on responsible authorities to intervene.
