Residents and traders in Northern A Ward, Kebisoni Town Council, Rukungiri District have raised concerns over the impassable potholes along the Kanyegangye – Omukagashe road, particularly at the junction of Kanyegangye, Kiborogota, and Omuribiri near Omukatesani Trading Center, which is maintained by the district.

Scovia Kyomuhendo, a resident near the affected area, expressed worry over frequent accidents and the difficulties faced by motorists due to the poor road condition.

Denis Ndagiine highlighted the challenges in maneuvering along the road and the frequent breakdowns of heavy vehicles.

Sabiiti Godfrey raised concerns about the increased transport fares by motorcycle riders, attributing the hike to mechanical damages caused by the poor road.

Abel Turyamwijuka, a trader at Master’s Shop in Kebisoni Town Council, noted a decline in sales and rising delivery costs due to the deteriorating road conditions.

Bogere Francis, a coffee dealer, lamented the challenges in transportation, citing frequent mechanical failures and the risks involved in moving goods and services.

Kebisoni Town Council Mayor, Alex Nathan Mugabe, acknowledged the issue and assured residents of ongoing efforts for road rehabilitation. He also urged locals to engage in communal work to maintain and sustain their roads.

Engineer Julius Bagira, the District Civil Engineer, confirmed that the road is scheduled for rehabilitation and assured residents that emergency repairs would be carried out soon due to the road’s significance.
