President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to commission the 2.47-kilometer Rushoroza Road, which connects the Kabale Diocesan Headquarters to the Katuna-Kabale-Mbarara Highway, along with two other roads, as part of his Parish Development Model (PDM) tour in the Kigezi Sub-region. This was confirmed by the Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi.

The additional roads to be commissioned include the 0.76-kilometer Bwankosa Road and the 0.34-kilometer Bushekwire Road. These roads were constructed by Multiplex Construction Company under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) project. In 2021, the company was awarded a contract worth 21.7 billion shillings to tarmac these roads in Kabale.

Speaking to journalists in Kabale District ahead of the President’s tour, Minister Baryomunsi confirmed the commissioning but cautioned the contractor against breaching the contract agreement. He pointed out that while the roads are ready for commissioning, some works remain incomplete.

President Museveni’s tour will commence tomorrow (Wednesday) with a visit to a farmer in Kisoro District, followed by a stop in Rubanda District to commission the 132/33KV power sub-station at Karukara and visit a successful PDM beneficiary in Bubare Town Council.

On Thursday, he will visit a farmer in Nyamirama Sub-county, launch the NRM Volunteers Nyekundire Group in Kanungu District, and meet over 900 selected leaders from the six districts of the Kigezi Sub-region.

On Friday, President Museveni will commission the Kigezi Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub in Kamuganguzi, a State House skilling facility, before officiating the commissioning of the three roads in Kabale District. He will conclude the day with a public rally at Rushebeya Playground in Rwamucuucu Sub-county, Rukiga District.
