The minister of security who doubles as the Rujumbura county legislator Hon Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi has revealed that the challenge of overspeeding in both boda boda and car drivers will soon come to an end since the government is introducing electronic number plates where all vehicles will be easily monitored.
He made these remarks on Sunday while speaking as the chief mourner at the requiem service of the Late Jotham Kibugwe’s at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in Rukungiri District who died at the age of 76.
Muhwezi said he got to know the late Kimbugwe in 1970 at Kigezi high school as an intelligent and smart boy who was a good basketball player.
He further explained that he was informed that he met his death after he got serious injuries he sustained in a boda boda accident he got along Rubabo road in Rukungiri municipality in May 2023.

Minister Muhwezi said the boda boda cyclists will be controlled by the new number plates because only persons with driving permits and licenses will be allowed to operate and this will make it easy to know, identify and make follow-up in case of an accident.
He delivered President Museveni’s condolence message of 10 million which he handed over to the family.
Dr Elisa Rutahigwa the Rukungiri municipality legislator said the late Kimbugwe died in the time they needed him most because he was a unifyer, hard working, and a God-fearing man who cooperated with all religions.
He added that he contributed much to the Rukungiri district education sector because he served as a government civil servant for many years where he will be missed for his tireless efforts to boost education standards in the district.
His wife and children among other speakers described the late as Soft, gentle, honest, and hard-working fathers who loved education and a strong supporter of the church.
Late Kimbugwe,served in different schools like Kyamakanda secondary school, and Katurika SS in Buhunga among others and he was a teacher of geography, history, and literature in different schools before he retired from active service for other personal business.
He left five children and a widow
He will be laid to rest today in Katurika Buhunga sub-county Rukungiri district.
