Only 2000 invited guests will receive President Yoweri Museveni tomorrow at Rukungiri stadium as the district hosts the national world AIDS day commemoration.

The Rukungiri RDC Steven Nsubuga Bewaayo says the number of guests has been restricted as part of measures to prevent the spread of Covid 19 and Ebola.

He said attendance will be by invite and all invited guests have been screened for covid 19

The screening exercise started on Tuesday at Rukungiri District headquarters

Bewaayo Nsubuga said preparations have been finalized to host the president and that the  whole country will be focusing on Rukungiri district as the host for this year’s national commemoration

World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.

 President Museveni last visited the Rukungiri on 15th April 2018 to deliver a donation worth over 5 billion to boost  development in the district

On 15th April 2018, at least 106 groups from sub-Counties of Nyakagyeme, kebisoni, Nyakishenyi, Ruhinda, Nyarushanje, Bugangari and Rukungiri Municipality received Petty cash, 109 motorcycles for Boda boda business, 5 motor vehicles for transport among others totaling to 5 billion shillings
