Police in Rukiga registered a hit-and-run fatal accident involving an unknown motor vehicle and a pedestrian Bruce Bayabwengi 64 years a resident of Kanaba cell Nyakabungo ward Muhanga town council Rukiga district.
This accident occurred on Friday 25th August 2023 at about 01:00 am at Bukinda Trading Centre along Kabale Ntungamo Highway Rukiga district.
The scene was visited, but the driver and the motor vehicle were not known, the body was at the deceased’s home where the postmortem is to be done before it’s handed over to relatives for burial.
It’s alleged that the deceased was from a certain bar within Bukinda trading center, as he was crossing the highway to his nearby home which is also along the road while drunk, that’s when he was knocked down dead on the spot by the unknown speeding car which was from Ntungamo heading to Kabale side.
Inquiries are ongoing and efforts to get the involved motor vehicle impounded are being made.
