Police in Rukiga district is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 67-year-old man.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman has identified the deceased as Wilson Rwamanja a resident of Bezi village Kitonjo parish Rwamucucu sub county Rukiga district.

Maate explains that on 24/7/2022 at around 11:00AM, the deceased left his home for burial in the neighborhood and he had plans to withdraw money from a mobile money agent.

The money  amounting to 70,000 UGX had reportedly been sent to  his phone by his daughter 

Rwamwanja now deceased,  never resurfaced till this morning at about 07:00 AM when his body was discovered by his grandchildren who were heading to school.

His lifeless body was lying in his banana plantation just 500m away from his home.

The children rushed back and informed their grandmother Allen Kabafunzaki who  notified the local council chairman of the area who in turn alerted the police 

Maate says the scene was visited, processed and postmortem was done.
One suspect was arrested to aid investigations.
