Leaders in  Nyakyera sub-county Ntungamo district have protested delays in the implementation of a water supply system for Kiyoora town board accusing the technical persons in the sub-county of misallocating the funds meant for the project.

According to the sub-county chairperson Mr Steven Kazoora, the project that was supposed to be implemented in 2020 has not kicked off despite the money having been spent

He said while the sub-county received funds to construct the headquarters at Kiyoora after they left the old structures for Nyakyera town council, Ushs 120M was allocated for water supply for Kiyoora town council, but nothing has been done.

Ms Joy Namara, the female councilor representing the Elderly in the Nyakyera sub-county council says the district erred in transferring the old sub-county chief who had committed to pay the money taken from the account without council approval, bringing a new one who was also transferred before the conclusion of the matter.

The  sub county accountant Mr Johnson Rukundo says whereas the money was remitted to the sub-county for water supply, the sub-county lacked a substantive source and a contractor to start the project.

He however said they have since been helped acquire a source by the ministry of water and a mini water supply scheme will be implemented before the end of September.
