Police in Kanungu registered a hit-and-run traffic accident where two people lost their lives.
According to the police report, on Sunday 6th August 2023 at around 05:00 PM, at Kihihi primary school along Kihihi Kasese road, Motor vehicle Reg No UBN 790V trailer White in color knocked a Motorcyclist and Killed a female adult passenger and her 3year old child whose particulars could not yet be established and the rider sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kigezi Community Medical center for treatment.
After the accident, the trailer then sped off towards Nyamirama Rukungiri road but was later on intercepted by Nyamirama police and impounded now it is parked at Nyamirama Police station pending IOV inspection, while It’s the driver is in detention.
The bodies were taken to Kihihi health center 1V mortuary for postmortem and Inquiries to establish the likely cause are ongoing.
