The state minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati has assured Christians across the Diocese of Kigezi that the government of Uganda is committed to fighting the escalating corruption in public organizations come 2023.
Minister Bahati made the call while addressing Christians yesterday on Christmas day at St Mark Church of Uganda Kakomo Parish in Kitumba Subcounty, Ndorwa West in Kabale district.
Bahati who doubles as the Ndorwa West County legislator reinstated that the fight against corruption will be on the topmost agenda in addition to Job creation and industrialization.
According to the Inspectorate of Government IGG Beti Kamya, Uganda loses up to Shillings 20 trillion annually to corruption and abuse of office-related cases. Kamya says the Inspectorate has managed to recover 30 billion Shillings this year and interdict 50 public servants, mostly CAOs.
Bahati asserted that the government of Uganda through the office of the Inspectorate of Government is going to arrest public officers and other people who will practice corruption in Uganda.
He asked Christians to embrace the fight and stop corruption if they are to work for the public, not for themselves.
