Residents of Kabami Cell in the Central Ward in Kisoro Municipality have discovered the lifeless body of one of their own, Fred Mucunguzi, age 26, adrift on the serene waters of Lake Chahafi.

This unsettling event unfolded within the confines of Chahafi Town Council, nestled in the Kisoro District. Fred Mucunguzi, a known resident of Kabami Cell, Central Ward, and a prominent figure within the community, was spotted by locals around 10:00 Am.

Charles Machari, the LC1 of Kabami Cell, recounted how concerned residents residing near the lake promptly brought this distressing sight to his attention.

With a sense of responsibility, he swiftly informed the local authorities, including the police, who were duly apprised of the situation. Machari emphasized that the departed had been seen alive just yesterday, engaged in communal endeavors.

Gerald Muhumuza, bereaved and anguished, shared his account of the last moments of his late sibling.

Recounting the previous evening’s gathering hosted by Justus Nzabarinda of Mupaka Village within Chahafi Town Council, Gerald spoke of how he had last interacted with his brother amidst the revelry. Yet, the following morning unveiled an inexplicable void as Fred was conspicuously absent from his abode.

Police Detectives visited the scene and the body was pulled out of the water, the body was examined and the body had blood components from the nose and mouth.

The body was handed over to relatives for burial arrangements.
