The territorial police in Rubanda have arrested 26-year-old Ahumuza Dismus, a resident of Rwembungu Cell, Bubare Town Council, Rubanda District, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl. The victim, a pupil at Nyamiyaga Primary School and a resident of the same area, was reportedly assaulted on the evening of February 17, 2025, in Rwembungu Cell, Nyamiyaga Ward, Bubare Town Council, Rubanda District.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:30 PM. Twinamasiko Enid, the mother of the victim, had left her 11-year-old daughter and four other siblings at home preparing supper. Upon her return, she found the children crying inside the house. When she inquired about the cause of their distress, she was informed that a man had attacked them and sexually assaulted the victim.
Enid immediately reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation. A case file was opened, and the suspect, Ahumuza Dismus, was arrested to assist with the ongoing inquiries. Key witnesses have been identified, and their statements have been recorded.
Police spokesperson ASP Maate Elly of the Kigezi region confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are still underway to ensure the suspect is prosecuted. Further details will be provided as the case progresses.
