The territorial police in Kisoro have arrested a 22-year-old Gestin Ngoga a Rwandan M23 soldier resident of Rucuro Kiwanja in DRC, allegedly for aggravated robbery of money and phones.
The property belongs to Lawrence Nasasira A Mufumbira boda boda rider a resident of Kakanke village Mupaka town council Kisoro district.
It’s alleged that on 10th September 2023 at about 05:00 pm at Kinanira village Mupaka town council, as the victim was riding his motorcycle, he was intercepted by the said suspect who was armed with an SMG rifle No CDFA2719381 with two magazines loaded with 55 rounds of live ammunitions and robbed him of his money, 400.000=Ugx and two mobile phones and thereafter was ordered to go away.
He immediately went and reported to Mupaka border police post in Kisoro district, where the suspect was pursued and arrested by UPDF 35 Battalion officers, and the rifle, ammunition, and phones were recovered.
The suspect being an M23 rebel, the UPDF took over the matter and they have taken him and the exhibits of the recovered rifle and ammunition to 2nd Division headquarters Makenke Mbarara for further management.
A case file of aggravated robbery was opened, and a statement of the victim and suspect was obtained as Inquiries continued.
