This was part of the remarks made by Mrs Lovence Tumuhye the Mothers Union president for the Diocese of kinkiizi during a gender based violence sensitization held on Saturday at Butogota Church of Uganda Kayonza archdeaconry in Kanungu District
During her talk on positive parenting, Mrs Tumuhye also called on mothers to raise their children in Christian faith and give them education and skills which can afford,as well as being good examples for their children.
Cavero Besigye the women’s ministry coordinator Diocese of Kinkiizi , says gender based violence is driven by several causes including lack of respect, gender equality, high bride price, culture, lack of transparency on finance issues, lack of openness, technology’s issues like phones which have exposed spouses involved in adultery, illness, lack off responsibility, adultery, witch Craft,denial of sex, polygamy, coming home late, drunkenness, childless, difference in education, peer pressure,misuse money or property,women being materialistic ,and producing girls.
Besigye noted that violence can be
Physical, sexual, emotional and economical and affects women, children,men, family and community.
She outlined some of the effects of gender based violence as Loss of dignity,separation , injuries and scars, divorce poverty abandoned children, school dropout incest and death.
Rev Canon Banard Byamugisha, the Archdeacon Kayonza COU archdeaconry told participants that marriage stands on love patience, forgiveness and hard work and success is by faith.
