55 PLE candidates and the head teacher of Katunga Primary School in Kakanju Sub-County, Bushenyi District, have been summoned to appear before the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) exam security committee over suspected involvement in examination malpractice.

Michael Matigi Mbasa, the Bushenyi District Inspector of Schools, confirmed that both pupils and teachers were summoned by UNEB officials for interrogation.

Matigi expressed optimism that after the interrogations, the results are likely to be released. He urged parents to remain calm as authorities continue working closely with UNEB to ensure a fair resolution.

While releasing the results last month, UNEB noted significant progress in curbing examination malpractice. However, some cases of malpractice were recorded, particularly in mathematics, where certain head teachers and invigilators were found assisting candidates. So far, 68 suspects have been arrested, with 12 convictions secured.
