The Kabale District woman member of Parliament Hon Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira has tasked police in Kabale District to speed up investigations into the case in which a 13-year-old minor was gang-raped leading to her death on Christmas day, so that justice can prevail.
Hon Atwakiire made the call yesterday while visiting the family of the deceased in Kyarugondo village, kicumbi parish in Kamuganguzi sub county, Kabale District.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, the 13-year-old girl, the late Glorious Akampurira Owembabazi was gang raped to unconsciousness and she died at Kabale regional referral hospital moments after she was admitted following an attack on her at Nyakasharara trading center in Kamuganguzi Sub County.
Police said that four men that include Davis Akankwasa Kehoda, Allan Akanyijuka, Sendarera Moses and Norman Ahumuza Kanuma all residents of Kasheregyenyi, Kamuganguzi sub county so far have been arrested and are being held as suspects as investigation go on.
According to Atwakiire, the family of the deceased is traumatized over the death of their child.
She has now tasked Kabale Police Station to do all that is necessary to ensure that justice prevails.
