The Kabale police reported a suspected drowning incident involving a 37-year-old individual named Charles Twinomujuni, also known as Karoli.
He was a resident of Rubira “1” cell in Katokye parish, Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale district. On the 30th of October 2023, his body was discovered floating in the waters of River Rwabakazi in Rushaki cell.
According to the reports, an unidentified adult male’s body was observed floating in River Rwabakazi on the mentioned date, leading to the notification of the Mwanjari police station. Subsequently, the Kabale Central Police Station was informed, and the Homicide team, under the supervision of the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department, D/SP Mukama, was dispatched to Rushaki cell. They were accompanied by a fire brigade officer and a police surgeon.
The body was retrieved from the water and, upon examination, was identified by Charles’ brother, Niwagaba Maxim. It was revealed that Charles had been suffering from a mental disorder. After examination, the body was then handed over to the family for proper burial. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
