The Inspector of Schools for Kebisoni Sub-county in Rukungiri District, Ms. Jacklyn Mpirirwe, has urged parents to focus on both boys and girls, emphasizing that all children are future responsible citizens of Uganda.

She made these remarks yesterday while addressing hundreds of congregants at Mugiri Church of Uganda in Kakinga Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, during a Thanksgiving service organized by Kigiro Primary School to celebrate its excellent performance in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations.

Ms. Jacklyn noted that many parents assume boys are less vulnerable than girls, leading to an imbalance in parental attention. She cautioned against child labor, stating that some parents unknowingly contribute to school dropouts by exposing their children to money at an early age, which fuels their love for earnings over education.

She emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between parents, teachers, and students, stating that such cooperation plays a crucial role in academic success.

According to Hosea Barigye, the head teacher of Kigiro Primary School—the best-performing government school in Kebisoni Sub-county—this year’s results were remarkable. Out of 59 candidates, 9 passed in Division One, 48 in Division Two, and 2 in Division Three.

He proudly noted that two candidates scored distinction one in mathematics, while two others earned distinction two. Additionally, four students achieved Distinction Two in Social Studies, marking an unprecedented achievement for the school.

Mr. Barigye attributed this success to the strong partnership between parents, teachers, and students, stating that they aim to improve even further in 2025.

During his sermon, the lay reader of Kigiro Church of Uganda, Gilbert Nasasira, urged children to work hard in their studies, reminding them that their parents make significant sacrifices to educate them.

He encouraged students to uphold discipline, emphasizing that it is key to achieving success in life.
