Religious and Political leaders have expressed concern over the increasing cases of murder in Kigezi region, especially resulting from domestic violence and theft.
This follows the recent Murder case of an unidentified male adult on 26/08/2023, at around 04:00 PM at Rutenga ward, Central Division, Kabale Municipality, in Kabale district, and the murder of Scovia Kobusingye a resident of Karengyere Trading Center, Karengyere Parish in Muko Sub County, Rubanda District who was hit with a stool on the head and died instantly by his husband in a fight resulting from Domestic Violence last Week.
The Archdeacon of Kamuronko Church of Uganda Archdeaconry Ven. Bens Aharimpisya said that some people don’t want to engage in productive activities, instead are targeting those who sweat for a living to kill them and take off their property.
The Ndorwa East Member of Parliament Hon Wilfred Niwagaba said that it’s unfortunate that Christians are engaging in evil acts of murder resulting from domestic violence, while others are stealing domestic animals and agricultural harvests.
He said that members of the families should keep themselves busy by engaging in commercial farming using the available land.
The Lyakarimira LC3 Chairperson Canon Enock Kazooba condemned Christians who engage in hatred within the church.
