It was a momentous day yesterday, 19th May 2025, for the NRM members of Rukungiri Municipality as they united in a show of solidarity and political clarity during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mainstream elections, where Fred Kabwiira was elected unopposed as the NRM chairperson for Rukungiri Municipality.
Fred Kabwiira, who has been the publicity secretary for NRM Rukungiri Municipality, was elected unopposed as the NRM mainstream chairperson for Rukungiri Municipality.
His unopposed victory reflected widespread recognition of his grassroots influence, dedication to party values, and ability to mobilize community support into the NRM party.
Speaking after the elections, Fred Kabwiira extended his appreciation to the voters for trusting in him and described himself as a servant leader with a clear vision to transform the community and have them molded with the NRM manifesto.
He noted that his rise in party leadership will signal a new era of development and improved governance at the grassroots level, bringing unity among party members.
Kabwiira noted that he will harmonize with all those who lost the vote to get them together and push high their party and candidates for the overall victory. This will champion development initiatives, promote inclusivity, and strengthen NRM structures at the local level.
He pledged to ensure leadership trainings so that all leaders can understand their responsibilities in the party and have many people join it.
Katungi Edson, who won the vice chairperson seat with 51 votes against Mucunguzi Fred who got only 39 votes, asked for unity among party members.
He asked those who lost to take it easy, join efforts, and work towards fulfilling the NRM manifesto.
