The meeting to reconcile the Rukungiri District Education Officer and the district inspector of schools hit a deadlock.

The closed-door meetings happened on Monday morning at the district headquarters.

District Education Officer Mr. Turyahumura Jackson and the inspector of schools Lydia Tushemerirwe first met with the district security committee and wanted to initiate the reconciliation, but the DEO Turyahumura Jackson refused the reconciliation saying he can’t reconcile for the act he never committed.

After the security meeting, the two met the Rukungiri District Education Department which had also converged to listen to the two and find a lasting solution to solve their grievances but still Turyahumura Jackson failed to succumb to pressure.

This forced the meeting to end abruptly without a way forward though the security committee said that they will continue to investigate the matter and once the investigations pin the DEO Turyahumura Jackson, he will face the law.

However, according to some sources that preferred anonymity, one of the district security bosses suggested that the DEO should be put into coolers to allow the investigations to take place but this never caught the attention of other security committee members.

Some head teachers who spoke to our reporter.

s but requested their names not to be mentioned said that the DEO Turyahumura Jackson is jeopardizing the education standards of the Rukungiri district because of his sectarian way of doing things and engaging himself in pet wars with the head teachers who fail to follow his illegal orders.

He is also accused of being selfish and not enforcing government directives where some head teachers pinned his primary school located in Bikurungu town council among the schools that teach learners during holidays which is against the Ministry of Education directives.

Some parents are asking the Rukungiri district Chief Administrative officer to at least initiate the retirement of the two if the education sector is to be at standard.

The whole drama started last week when the DEO Turyahumura Jackson slapped the district inspector of schools during a meeting at his office accusing her of swindling the UNEB registration allowances which forced Lydia to report the matter at Rukungiri Central Police station.
