The Bishop of Kabale catholic diocese Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira has asked believers in Rukungiri district to reconcile with one another, repent and draw near to God as we head to the Christmas festivities.

He was yesterday officiating at the opening of a presbytery (priest’s residence) worth over shillings 600 million at Rwamagaya parish in Ruhinda subcounty Rukungiri district.

He thanked believers at Rwamagaya parish for promoting agriculture by establishing a banana and coffee plantation which will increase their income as a parish in addition to constructing a residence for priests.

Fr. Charles Mugabi the parish priest Rwamagaya parish thanked the Ruhinda catholic community with support from the Kampala Rwamagaya catholic chapter for working towards uplifting their parish.

He noted that the parish has established banana and coffee plantations, piggery project and bought two more acres of land  

He thanked the bishop for accepting their invitation to commission the presbytery and recognized believers who supported and contributed towards its construction especially Mr.Posiano Ngabirano the managing director of capital shoppers and his family, together with other parishioners.

Vanansio Natuhwera Bagateireyo the chairperson parish council Rwamagaya parish thanked Catholics for teaming up to construct a three   in- one facility to accommodate their priests.

He revealed plans to process land titles for the parish land, fundraising for Karyamishekuro catholic church which was destroyed by a hailstorm and renovating Rwamagaya primary school which is   dilapidated.

Rwamagaya parish started in 1991 and so far, 9 parish priests have served in this parish.

The function was attended by security Minister Jim Muhwezi who doubles as the legislator for Rujumbura constituency, Hon Medius Natukunda Kaharata Woman mp Rukungiri district, members of the business fraternity, religious leaders among others.
