KAMPALA:

The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba has charged Diocesan Mission coordinators to be transformed in order to transform communities in which they serve.

Quoting 1 Timothy 1:13, Archbishop Kaziimba said, the Mission coordinators ought to set good examples by avoiding unnecessary competition, criticism, comparison and compromising the gospel.

He made the remarks today while opening a two days capacity building conference for Church of Uganda’s Diocesan Mission Coordinators at Esella Country Hotel in Najjera, Kampala.

“This ministry is about coordination, collaboration, cooperation, connection, communication and Christ above all. I charge you to be transformed to transform the others. Be faithful stewards and connect people to God.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.

He commended them for their selfless service and called upon them not to give up when criticised, ridiculed, rejected and portrayed as incompetent.

“God calls the unqualified and qualifies them. He never calls the qualified. His work is to equip the unequipped, transforms the untransformed so that they can go out and do his ministry. God is calling us to go to the Church which is protesting and to the people who are rebellious.” Archbishop Kaziimba urged.

Archbishop Kaziimba further encouraged them to have prayer partners and devote more time to prayer.

“Don’t do ministry without people to pray for and with you. Have someone you trust to pray for you and yourselves should devote more time to prayer. Your work should be to coordinate, plan, encourage and also be in the field to do some work but not doing everything.” Archbishop Kaziimba advised.

According to Rev Simon Peter Ddembe Lya Yesu, Church of Uganda’s Director for Missions and Outreach, the Conference is meant to strengthen unity and cooperation among the Mission Coordinators.

“We hope that by the end of this conference, we shall have built a strong team, United for Jesus Christ’s commission, have a shared vision as co-labourers in Christ’s vineyard and have a kingdom focused mind to counteract false teachings and false prophets.” Rev Ddembe Lya Yesu explained.

Rev. David Kaggwa, one of the facilitators at the Conference said the Mission Coordinators will among other things be trained in building effective persecution care response structures, work planning, budgeting and practical implementation dynamics.

The two days conference is organised by Church of Uganda’s Directorate of Mission and Outreach in partnership with Christian Martyrs Outreach Uganda.
