The alumni of St. Francis Buhunga High School in Buhunga Subcounty, Rukungiri District, have expressed their appreciation for the outstanding performance of students in the 2024 UCE and UACE examinations by rewarding the best performers with blankets and cash prizes.

According to Cornelius Byarugaba, the chairperson of the St. Francis Buhunga High School Alumni Association, it is their tradition as alumni to reward the best-performing students every year to motivate them to work harder.

He praised the dedication of both students and teachers, stating that without their commitment, there would be no success to celebrate.

Cornelius added that since they introduced the awards for best performers, the school’s academic performance has greatly improved over the years. He affirmed the alumni’s continued support in recognizing outstanding students and teachers.

He also emphasized the significance of former students from St. Francis Buhunga High School now occupying influential positions in society. He encouraged current students to dream big and avoid distractions that may derail their future.

Cornelius urged students to stay focused and work hard to uphold the school’s legacy.

Meanwhile, Mugisha Julius Kakwaara, the head teacher of St. Francis Buhunga High School, commended the alumni for their continued support, saying their efforts have motivated both students and teachers.

He underscored the importance of discipline, hard work, and having a clear vision for success, noting that exemplary results are possible when students heed the guidance often provided by alumni.

Mugisha also called upon the alumni to help address some of the challenges the school is facing in order to create a more conducive learning environment for the students.

He encouraged all old boys and girls who have not yet joined the alumni association to do so, to strengthen the school’s support system.
