Members of over 30 households     in Rwencweera village Rwenshama parish Bwambara sub county Rukungiri district are counting losses after   River Ncweera, burst its banks this morning.

Kenneth Niwagaba, the Lc 2 chairperson for Rwenshama parish says    River Ncweera started bursting its banks last year when it flooded Rwebinyonyi village affecting over 25 households.

Niwagaba says that they tried to avert the situation by excavating trenches that channeled water that was invading Rwebinyonyi village.

Nuwagaba now says he is going to mobilize members of the community to excavate trenches that will channel water away from the affected homesteads and prevent future occurrences

He also called on authorities to intervene and boost the capacity of the residents  to resolve the challenge.

Chris Kagayano, the Bwambara  sub county Chairperson says   he has contacted  district authorities and the Uganda wildlife authority about  the matter, and he is  waiting for their response.
