Police in Rubanda have arrested 16 years old Edina Kobusingye for the alleged infanticide that she committed on 20/03/2023 at around 08:00hrs in Nyamiyaga village Igomanda parish Hamurwa sub county Rubanda district.
Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesman explains that the minor was impregnated by a resident identified as Arinda Boaz who left her helpless
Maate further explains that on 20/03/23 at around 08:00 AM she experienced labor pains and informed her father Katurebe Herbert, who rushed her to church for prayers instead of the hospital.
With too much pain, she went into a nearby pit latrine and pushed the baby into the pit latrine.
Police were alerted by the chairperson local council two Igomanda parish Justus Ensiteriyitu, visited the scene and the body was removed from the pit latrine with the help of the locals.
Postmortem was done, the body was taken by the relatives for burial and the girl was briefly held for questioning and taken to Hamurwa health center four for medical care as efforts to get the man who impregnated her arrested are being made so that he is charged with defilement.
