Police in Mitooma District are investigating circumstances under which a one year old baby was murdered.
The body of the minor was recovered today with some missing body parts pointing to possible ritual murder
The incident happened on 27/04/2023 when Amon Byamaka 55 a teacher and resident of Nyandago B cell, Bwera Parish, Kanyabwanga sub county Mitooma district reported a case of the baby’s disappearance at Kashongorero Police Station
According to ASP Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, the deceased identified as Owamani Iden was aged 1 year and 8 months.
He said after the case of disappearance was registered, investigations commenced and a search for the victim was conducted for possible recovery but all in vain.
The body of the victim was found in a bush this morning at Kigyende village Kanyabwanga Parish Kigyende Sub County Mitooma district with all the limbs and private parts missing.
The body was conveyed to Mitooma health centre for postmortem.
According to ASP Tumusiime the minor disappeared on 26/04/2023 when the mother left him with his siblings and their father at home and went to look for what to prepare for supper
At about 6:30Pm the father of the victim Justus Maguru also left the victim and his elder sister at home and went to check on a nearby garden and by the time he returned home in about 20 minutes he found the victim missing.
